Our Story

Who we are.

Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational church movement focused on the authority of the Bible and the expository teaching from Genesis to Revelation.

How it all started...

Calvary Chapel of Cape Cod formed in the spring of 1991 with a handful of people meeting for a Bible study in the home of Pastor Tony Marinelli. Since the spring of 1993, we’ve been meeting in local school buildings. In 2008 Pastor Tony took a sabbatical due to two significant illnesses; Leukemia and PNP.  Pastor Silas Coellner was the interim pastor while Pastor Tony was on sabbatical.  In 2011 Pastor Silas was installed as the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Cape Cod. In August of 2013 we moved to our new location at 10 Jan Sebastian Dr. In Sandwich MA.  Pastor Forrest Ferrill has been the faithful assistant pastor for Pastor Tony and Pastor Silas for over twenty years.

On March 4th 2018, we began a new chapter as a church.  We planted Calvary Chapel Cape Cod Yarmouth. Pastor Seth Campeau was ordained and conducted his first service at our location in Sandwich.  Pastor Seth lead the church that was located in Yarmouth at 24 Commercial St..  We functioned as one church in two locations.

On March 13th, 2020 our world changed with the COVID 19 pandemic.  After much prayer,  we believe the Lord lead us to regather in Sandwich.  Beginning June 13th 2022, the Yarmouth campus will join the Sandwich campus, and we will worship together as one family and seek the Lord for what He has for our future.  Lord willing He is preparing us for a harvest and we will be used by God's grace to reach Cape Cod and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

History of Calvary Chapel

In 1965 Pastor Chuck Smith planted Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Beginning with a mere 25 people, he saw God bless his simple, yet consistent style of teaching straight through the Bible.
Today Calvary Chapel has grown to over 1,500 churches worldwide. With a genuine heart for the lost, Pastor Chuck reached out to in that day to a generation of hippies, surfers, and drug addicts. This generated a stirring of the Holy Spirit, which spread from the California coast to the Atlantic and beyond. This movement was instrumental in bringing thousands of young people to Jesus Christ during the 60s and 70s in what was known as the Jesus People Movement.
As God expanded the ministry, Pastor Chuck’s visionary leadership saw the birth of other ministries such as The Word for Today, a publishing/radio broadcasting ministry which is heard worldwide. A noted speaker and the author of over 25 books, Pastor Chuck can be heard daily on television, radio, and webcasts throughout the world.
