Beyond the Shadows
What does it mean to truly continue in the faith we first received? Colossians chapter 2 brings us face to face with one of the most searching questions of the Christian life. We began our walk with God on the basis of grace alone, not by our performance, our rule-keeping, or our religious effort. But how easy it is to drift from that starting point and begin trying to earn what was freely given. This message draws us back to the foundation, reminding us that being rooted, built up, and established in Christ is not about adding more religious activity to our lives but about going deeper into the person of Jesus himself. Like a tree whose roots must reach down through drought and dry soil to find living water, our faith grows strongest not in comfort alone but through the seasons of suffering and surrender. The result of that kind of deep-rooted walk is not pride or self-congratulation but an overflowing, almost irrepressible gratitude that reorients everything we see. If we find ourselves more full of attitude than gratitude, this passage invites us to pause, look up, and remember the grace that started it all.
